People have been turning to us for assistance in buying and selling homes, recreational and investment property since the turn of the century.  New clients quickly discover that we are not sales people; rather, we are professional representatives who take the task of assisting them in making sound real estate decisions very seriously.  As a result, the majority of our business now comes from our past clients who send their family, friends and associates to us, knowing their needs will be served in that same spirit.  If you’d like some biographical details about us, you’ll find them below.

 

Background:  Dave’s business career began in a family firm which is now beginning its second century of customer-focused service.  He held management positions in that business until joining the U.S. Army, in which he served for 28 years.  His military assignments included a variety of leadership, management, intelligence, civil-military relations, public affairs and teaching positions at duty stations in Europe, Asia and across the U.S. After retiring from the military at the rank of colonel, Dave worked as a management and organizational development consultant before commencing his real estate practice.   He is an Indiana University graduate with master’s degrees in Chinese Politics (Indiana University) and Family Social Science (University of Minnesota).  He held an appointment to the University of Minnesota faculty as Associate Professor of Military Science where he taught leadership, ethics and military law. Dave holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Hamline University School of Law and is a qualified mediator and arbitrator in the Minnesota Court System.  He has also served as an occasional TV and radio commentator on military affairs.

Joan served for several years as a registered clinical dietitian before moving into the training and organizational development field.  In this capacity she worked in several major businesses as a trainer and internal organizational consultant.  She is a Viterbo University graduate, holds a master’s degree in Training and Development from Johns Hopkins University, is a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law and a member of the Minnesota Bar.    

Licensure:   Dave and Joan are licensed in Minnesota. Dave was previously licensed in Kentucky and Wisconsin.

 Geographical Areas Served:  Our business is based in the historic Summit Avenue area of St. Paul where we’ve made our home for 30 years.  From this base we assist buyers and sellers in transactions across the Twin Cities Metro area.  Through our network of trusted associates we also help clients buying or selling real estate in out-state Minnesota and across North America.

Family:  Our family includes five children, their partners, seven grandchildren and a Golden Retriever.

Community Activities:  Most of our community service activities are affiliated with House of Hope Presbyterian Church.

 Interests:  Our collective interests include home restoration, gardening, genealogy, sewing, cooking, choral music, fly-fishing, auto restoration, antiques and travel.

Awards:  While we’ve won major national and local sales awards from our brokerages and have been named Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine’s “Super Agents,” frankly, the awards truly important to us are the continuing trust and confidence of our clients.  We work hard to earn the latter and, if our success in that arena continues, we’ll be more than satisfied.
